It’s time for another episode of Timothy Talks! Today we discuss missions in the early church. Why did the church grow so rapidly? Where did the Gospel spread, and how did it get there? And did you know about the first Christian kingdom that existed long before Rome’s conversion?
Don’t forget – this is your chance to win two free tickets to the G3 Conference in Atlanta. The conference theme is The Mission of God: A Biblical Understanding of Missions. Yes, the church engaged in missions 2000 years ago, and it continues today. Listen to the podcast to learn how you can win!
Reminder: We will return to regular Monday morning blog posts soon. We are taking just a few weeks to highlight Timothy Talks. Please check it out if you haven’t already. Available on all your favorite podcast apps.
It’s amazing to think of the countries to which the gospel spread to so rapidly!! I have a question that arises when I think on that…How did these countries, for lack of a better word, lose the gospel?? It hard to believe that a country that once encounters Christ in a personal way would at length reject Him! Can Christianity in a culture really be lost so quickly?
Great question, Elizabeth! Yes, while it seems amazing, we need to remember the warnings that the New Testament refers to constantly: that in the end times, some would depart from the faith. The early church did an amazing job of missions, but it also began a slow descent. We will be dealing more with these themes, including the gradual decline that set in. I think that we will have some episodes in a few months that deal with these declines specifically.
