A Song of Mercy and Judgement: A Poetic Paraphrase of Psalm 101
(1) Of steadfast love and justice I shall sing,
To you, O Lord, my music will take wing.
(2) Awaiting you, I pace the palace grounds,
And from its walls the blameless way resounds
(3) I’ll turn my eyes from seeing worthless views
Apostate works with hatred I refuse.
(4) A crooked heart will never lodge in me,
Nor practic’d knowledge of iniquity.
(5) My rod will spare no secret slanderer,
The haughty heart and look I’ll not endure.
(6) My smile shall crown the faithful yeoman’s claim,
Heap honors on the man who’s free of blame.
(7) My palace will be free from lying cheats,
My eyes unharmed by treacherous elites!
(8) By morning’s light the evil man I’ll slay
To purge from Zion’s streets the wicked way.
